What Type of YouTube Videos Should You Be Making?

Overthinking is a bad quality for YouTubers when trying to grow a channel, especially with the more experience you have...

I’ve studied some of the top creators on YouTube to save you 20+ hours of work.

This email will show you how to follow those channels growth tactics

with 1 Strategy, 2 Tips, and 3 Examples.

_______________

Simple is Always Better

I was wrong.

I've spent countless hours over the years trying to figure out what people want to watch on YouTube and wondering how some YouTubers could gain views almost magically overnight.

I just didn't get it.

How come these videos with no interesting B-Roll or VFX are able to gain such easy traction in the algorithm?

It definitely isn't my videos.

The algorithm just hates me.

Does any of this sound familiar?

The effect of analysis paralysis

Overthinking is a bad quality for YouTubers when trying to grow a channel, especially with the more experience you have.

A new creator may try things they think will work, but their inexperience with content creation shields most from becoming depressed when things don't go as planned.

Try not to overanalyze your content and instead focus on simply clicking the upload button. That is the only guaranteed way to avoid falling into the trap of analysis paralysis and doubting your content.

Emotion Gets More Clicks

#1 - Optimize Videos for People, Not Algorithms

Video title optimization is important for the algorithm to promote your video to new audiences, but it's best if creators to go beyond that and think about how to optimize video titles for humans.

Imagine you're a passionate Call of Duty fan, and you come across a YouTube video that's titled, "Halo vs Call of Duty."

Would you click on it? Maybe.

But what if you came across a video titled, "Halo is better than Call of Duty."

You may be slightly triggered.

#2 - Create Value Over Entertainment

It's easy to get sucked into the YouTuber cliché of trying to be an entertainer. But if that's not your style, that's completely ok.

If you viewers value over trying to be entertaining and your audience still connects with your content, then your channel will grow exponentially.

You can frame yourself and your channel as anything you like on YouTube, especially with the boom of faceless YouTube channels.

But don't stress out trying to be something you're not when it's more important to instead play to your strengths when making videos.

Creating Your Value Proposition

ZFG

This longtime Zelda speedrunner has kept a consistent style of titles and thumbnails to maximize click-through rate.

These videos appear to be explanation or challenge style videos, but they are all simply highlights from his various livestreams.

ZFG's recent videos

Showcasing your expertise or viewpoints within your favorite hobby will always draw in highly engaged viewers from that specific community.

Just make sure your title and thumbnails are packaged in a way that speaks to the viewers you're trying to attract.

Goose's Gamer Folklore

Here's another gaming content creator that makes highly engaging videos, but with a bigger focus on in-depth analysis and storytelling.

Goose's recent videos

By producing videos on topics you have a passion for, it's much easier to relate to your general audience and bring in the viewers that will always be seeking out this style of content.

After bringing your base viewers, you can work on slightly adjusting your topics to experiment with new potential audiences that didn't even know they wanted to watch your videos until they stumbled upon your channel.

TheCynicalProduction

This channel was focused on random gaming videos until their views exploded by experimenting with deepfake de-aging technology on a popular television series.

TheCynical Production's recent videos

Mixing a specialty niche or hobby with a current trend is a tremendous way to gain views quickly and will increase your impressions to a level you might have never expected.

If you truly want to gain views almost magically overnight, find the common link between your skills and something people are currently interested in.

By using this method, you're guaranteed to find success on YouTube sooner than later.
