When's the last time you uploaded a video?

Or better: when's the last time you finished ANY idea you started?

I've been stuck in this game 100+ times. It took me years to finally beat it.

This newsletter issue will trick your brain into completing all of your goals.

The Secret To Getting Sh*t Done

I write down a good idea, and instantly get motivated to complete it.

But I slowly come to a halt when I realize the amount of tasks and time needed to get to the finish line.

Then I let the idea sit in my notes for days or weeks.

But suddenly, I get a new idea - a better idea!

I instantly get motivated to complete it.

Rinse and repeat.

There’s a reason we do this, and most of the time, it’s because we’re too wrapped up in the idea of growing our channel, uploading amazing content that people love, or the idea of making a living on YouTube.

This is what’s causing us to fail.

If our brain visualizes a grand accomplishment that we’re working towards, and how we will feel once we achieve it, you might get to work.

But what about the opposite?

If our brain visualizes the failure involved with not accomplishing that goal, and the consequences of that failure, we will definitely get to work.

This scenario is based on scientific fact, in which visualizing your possible failure and how that would make you feel is largely more effective than picturing your ultimate goal and the happiness that comes from it.

Try to picture what your failure looks like.

I guarantee you’ll start moving.

How To Stay Focused on YouTube

 #1 - Use Parkinson’s Law

Parkinson’s Law is the concept of work expanding to fill the time needed to get it done.

Here’s a familiar example:

Jack is a content creator.

Jack says “I’m going to write a script and make a thumbnail today.”

Jack spends the day ‘preparing’ to sit down and write, but does many other things first.

Jack is writing the script until after midnight and starts making the thumbnail around 2am.

I am Jack’s complete lack of surprise.

For years I would say “I’m more productive at night.”

When the reality is I'm trying to make up for my terrible work ethic during the day.

Don't say: “I’m going to write a script and make a thumbnail today.”

Say: “I’m going to finish a script by 1pm and finish my thumbnail by 3pm.”

Give self-imposed deadlines for your work that will force you to take action.

The brain needs a little pressure to prove itself wrong.

#2 - Use Pomodoro Technique

This is another extremely effective method for time management.

You may have heard of it, but if you haven't, prepare to get more done than ever before.

Pomodoro Technique is simple:

🧠 Work 25 minutes.

⏰ Rest 5 minutes.

🔁 Repeat.

Sounds easy, right?

I guarantee it’s more challenging than it sounds.

This is due to the secret sauce of this technique:

Work 25 minutes on a SINGLE task. No multi-tasking allowed.

You aren’t allowed to open a tab after 12 minutes and check Twitter.

You aren’t allowed to put a TV show or movie on in the background.

Only work, for 25 straight minutes.

Now here’s the beauty of Pomodoro:

5 minute rests have absolutely NO WORK.

This is your time to check Twitter, TikTok, or whatever else you do to relax.

The best way to use this 5 minutes is to stretch, grab a snack, or get some sun.

When you come back, start the 25 minute timer again.

It sounds crazy, but it’s single most life-changing time management tool I’ve ever used.

Try it and see what you can do in just a couple hours.
